Who am I?

I walked the earth these past years, nearly crippled by the weight of the question.

I looked to those who bore me to give me an answer, to free me from a yoke of my own making. I picked apart the names they gave me, trying to give purpose to each word.

“Your name is your destiny”, they said. But how do I live out a destiny I cannot identify with?

I tried to create my own identity, independent of all I was expected to be. I spun such a web of confusion; I was no longer sure what I wanted.

I looked to those who had come to love me, hoping to understand what had drawn them to me. I almost lost the gift of the moment.

It has been a soul-wrenching journey, one that I find I am grateful for.

Today I have found myself in myself. I can finally see, I am the moon.
